We hoped Lion would bring us a new version of the rather limited Front Row media centre application, perhaps based on Apple TV's functionality. Instead, it was canned completely; the new release of OS X dispenses with Front Row altogether. With much more capable media servers such as Plex and XBMC available for free, you might not miss Apple's neglected and dated application. But if Front Row is all you need, you'll be pleased to know you can get it back.
There's no reason Snow Leopard's Front Row can't run in Lion. American blogger Ralph Perdomo of Mac-Hatter Consulting discovered this when he transferred the application and its core components to the new operating system. He documented the procedure on his blog, and even compiled an installer for other Mac users to download.
If you want Front Row back on your Lion Mac, download Front Row Enabler from here. Use it at your own risk, but it worked fine for us.

“Apple's media centre application was dropped from OS X 10.7, but we show you how to get it back.”
