Most modern video editing apps such as iMovie and Final Cut Pro X come with a series of bundled animated titles, so that you can add impressive titles to your projects even if graphic design isn’t your strong suit. But after a few projects, those titles will start to get a little repetitive. What do you do if you want to use something new? If you’re looking for a flexible yet easy-to-use title design app that doesn’t require any design know-how, then you should definitely take a look at Animationist. The interface is very friendly, with large buttons offering you different categories, such as Text, Clipart, Background and Effects.
Everything is designed with the novice in mind. You can apply a vast number of design presets to clip art and text: all you have to do is click on the one you like and you’re done. The same goes for effects, which even come with a thumbnail preview of what your selected object will look like with it applied. Every parameter can be modified and animated over time thanks to the use of keyframes, which can be added automatically as you move objects across the screen, or manually when making changes to specific values. Drag, and objects and guides appear automatically to help you keep everything aligned.
You can also create backgrounds, but you can’t use video clips in these. It is, however, possible to export your Animationist title with no background so that you can add your title over any clip in your video-editing app, although this is quite hard to achieve if you work with iMovie. In that case, working with backgrounds is your easiest option.
If you’re looking for a way to make original video titles quickly and easily then look no further than Animationist.
